Oldies but... something...
Hopefully I will be putting up a new cartoon tomorrow. So, while I have frames exporting and things rendering, I thought I would write a blog entry.
First off, while making this cartoon, I found some old images from the year 2000. In the new cartoon I tried to revise the look of the character, and the cartoon. I also sprinkled the background of the cartoon with items and characters from cartoons I wrote, but have not, nor probably ever will, have the opportunity to make. Here are a few old parts from the 2000 Captain Capitalism website:
The Supreme Weed is a parody of the Kree's "Supreme Intelligence" in Marvel comics. In a 6 part cartoon, a plant-like-alien-race tries to take over the world and get rid of Earth's mammals by making them lazy stoners. This was years before, and much funnier (though I guess that is a matter of opinion) than "The Happening." The Supreme Weed makes an appearance in the BG of the new cartoon.
One Captain Capitalism script had Captain Capitalism attending the annual "Captain's" meeting, where the Captains from every nation on earth and others (Captain and Tenille, Captain Crunch etc) meet for a convention. Some of the smaller time Captains get jealous and use the convention for revenge...
Commiectus is the main villan on the Nightmare of a Red Christmas series of 6 cartoons. I made the first one (see here), but quit. Hopefully, I can revisit one day. Anway the cartoon reveals that communists are actually Martians ("Red Menace from the Red Planet", get it?). In Captain Capitalism, everything that is not American tends to be a threat from an Intergalactic race hell bent on conquering Earth. Martians use communism to make society dependent on government, then come and then reveal themselves as an alien race when it is all too late. There are many things in the new cartoon that were parts I made for these cartoons so long ago.
I don't want to sound unhappy with the cartoon, but I wish I had more time. There are a lot of things I would like to fix and change, but this cartoon is about presidential politics...so I really need to release it tomorrow. I guess you could polish something forever.
This is not the funniest cartoon I have ever created, but I really enjoyed working on the designs on this one. This is the first cartoon I have done since redesigning Captain Capitalism (with a little help from Stephen Silver). I probably spent too much time playing with fun design, and color, and making lines straight for HD (yes this cartoon is in HD) then had to rush through the animation etc. Oh, well. Next time.
